How to Scan a Document to PDF on Android
Last reviewed: September 12, 2026
Paper to PDF in four steps: capture the document with your camera, adjust the corners, enhance the page, and export a clean PDF. Every step — corner detection, perspective correction, and enhancement — is processed on your device, with no account required. This guide walks through the document scanner in Offline Scan & Photo Toolkit.
The four steps at a glance
1. Frame — corner detection outlines the document as you hold the phone steady.
2. Crop — drag any corner to fine-tune the outline.
3. Enhance — pick an enhancement profile and check the result.
4. Export — the scan becomes a PDF in your PDF tools.
Step 1 — Frame the document in the scanner
Open the scanner and point the camera at the document on a flat surface. Corner detection runs live on the camera preview, so you see the outline settle onto the edges before you capture. Even, diffuse light gives the detection the most to work with — avoid casting your own shadow on the page. When the outline matches the edges, capture the frame.
Step 2 — Adjust the corners
After capture, the crop screen shows four draggable corner handles. Drag any corner to fine-tune the outline — useful when the document sits on a busy background, or when you want a tighter crop around a single paragraph. Perspective correction then flattens the page so it reads as if it was scanned face-on.
Step 3 — Enhance the page
Pick the look that fits the document. Original keeps the photo as captured. Document and High Contrast boost the page for cleaner text and brighter backgrounds. For text-heavy pages, grayscale conversion gives a clean, classic scanned look. Preview the result before you export.
Step 4 — Export as PDF
When you export, choose the page size, fit, margins, and quality you want. The finished PDF opens in the built-in viewer so you can check every page before you send it. The file is saved to the app's local storage — sharing happens through the apps you choose.
After the scan — combine and manage PDFs
One scan becomes one PDF. When a document has several pages, scan each page and combine them with PDF merge — merge, split, and page reorder are available now as premium features. See the PDF tools.
Tips for clean scans
- Light the page evenly: daylight from a window or a bright room beats a single lamp pointed at the paper.
- Hold the phone as straight-on as you can. Perspective correction fixes angle, and a flatter start keeps details sharp.
- Try High Contrast or grayscale when a page looks faded or low-contrast on screen.
- For multi-page documents, scan page by page and merge the results into one PDF (premium).
Where your scans are stored
Scans and PDFs live in the app's local storage, with a browsable history you can search, filter, and mark as favorites. Deleted items go to a trash with a 30-day recycle bin — restore anything within 30 days or delete it permanently. Processing happens on the device; documents aren't uploaded for cloud processing.
